Congress Votes On Ninth Circuit Anti-Parenting DecisionTraditional Values Coalition, December 1, 2005 On Nov. 16, 2005, the House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution by 320-91 to urge the full 9th Circuit Court to rehear the controversial Fields v. Palmdale School District case. The resolution was offered by Pennsylvania Republican Tim Murphy, who said: "What we are speaking to here is a case in which the court, I believe, far overreached the issues involved in a case and declared parenting unconstitutional." This case was issued by a liberal three-judge panel headed by Judge Richard Reinhardt, one of the most far left federal judges in the U.S. In the case, Reinhardt ruled that parents had no right to complain about an explicit sex survey given to their children-and that the school had the right to teach whatever they deemed appropriate about sex to children. The case is yet another outrage perpetrated by the 9th Circuit and makes it all the more urgent that this federal court is split. TVC has been urging Congress to split the 9th Circuit for several years. In one report we outlined reasons why the court should be split. Our new report on the Fields decision provides more details showing why this radical leftwing court must be stripped of its immense power over millions of Americans.
